When ever we take about the planets we never really state that the other planets have moons too and not just the Earth. Each planet has more the one moon which i think is very cool. Mars has two moons, Neptune has thirteen, Uranus 27, Saturn 61, and Jupiter coming in first place with 63. -A. Andrews

1. What objects make up the solar system?
There are a number of objects that make up the solar system. Obviously you have the nine planets- Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and the dwarf planet Pluto. The solar system also includes the Sun, Moons revolving around the nine planets, stars, asteroids and meteors.
2. How far is the Earth from other objects in the solar system?
The Earth is probably many lightyears away from other objects in the solar system. Distances measured in space are much larger due to the fact that the solar system is so big, which is what leads me to believe that lightyears is an appropriate measurement for estimating how far the Earth is from other objects in the solar system.
3. Which objects in the solar system can influence the Earth?
Other planets as well as the sun, moon, asteriods, and meteors can influence the Earth.
4. Can you think of any objects or processes outside the solar system that might effect the Earth?
My best guess would be that the galaxy and universe may have somewhat of an impact on Earth, although I am not very sure.

- Maybe meteors or astroids could effect earth. If a meteor fell from the sky then it could blow up a whole city.

The Earth is relatively close to the Sun and the inner planets. But Earth is far away from the outer planets. Jupiter, for example is about 600,000,000 kilometers from Earth!

Some of the objects in the solar system that can influence the Earth are the moon and the sun. The moon influences the Earth by using its gravitational pull to cause tides in the Earth’s oceans, and the sun influences earth by changing the temperature that Earth has.
Other objects that might affect the earth could be comets, meteors, and asteroids.

Asteroids are rocky bodies smaller than planets. They are leftovers from the formation of the solar system. IN FACT, the early history of the solar system was a period of frequent impacts. The many scars (impact craters) seen on the Moon, Mercury, Mars, and the moons of the outer planets are the evidence for this bombardment.

The sun contains over 99% of all mass in the solar system. According to the current thinking, the birthplace of our solar system was a nebula. A nebula is a cloud of gas and dust probably cast off from other stars that used to live in this region of our galaxy. more than 4.5 billion years agop this nebula started down the long road to the formation of stars and planets. The idea that the solar system eolved from such a swirling cloud of dust is called the nebular theory!

Our solar system consists of the Sun, 8 planets, and their moons. In order, the planets go Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. All of which evolve around the sun. The planets evolve around the sun due to the Suns gravitational force. That is also why the planets do not collide with each other.
